IYM Inspires excellence and achievement through education.

Inspiring Young Minds provides guidance and awareness to underserved youths of the opportunities at independent high schools across the USA. For students in grades 7th through 12th, IYM is now accepting applications looking for a placement to start in Fall 2026.

IYM Prep Scholar Program

The IYM Prep Scholar Program accepts up to eighty students. Submit by September 13, 11:00 PM EST, to take full advantage of our process and support. IYM will continue accepting applications; however, applications submitted after October 15 at 11:00 PM EST will have an applied late fee to be onboarded upon acceptance.

Prep Scholar Application

To complete the application, you will need:

  • Student profile picture
  • A copy of your most recent report card
  • A PDF copy of your child's last June final report card
  • If applicable. a PDF copy of any IEP paperwork
  • Student statement: Why do you think higher education is essential to you?

Information Sessions
IYM hosts information sessions from May to August for interested families to learn about what IYM does and the opportunities for underserved students.
National Prep School Fairs
IYM brings together over 100 independent schools in one location for families to learn what schools have to offer from admission officers directly. This event occurs yearly around the beginning of October.
Prep Basketball Showcases
IYM hosts a showcase that brings together talented student-athletes to demonstrate their skills in the presence of basketball coaches of school in the IYM network.
Counseling Throughout the Process
After IYM reviews the student's submitted Prep Scholar Application, the invited student chooses to join the program. An assigned IYM staff will work with each family. IYM team counsels and guides families through the school's application process.
